LOGO AND WEB DESIGNER, CLIENT MANAGER
Early beginnings in design
It was one of the lecturers on my art foundation course who spotted my potential and suggested I go into graphic design. My natural flair for design blossomed. I graduated in Graphic Design in 1994 and began an eight-year career in magazine design in London.
From magazine design in London to web design in Edinburgh
Magazine design is a fast-paced, pressured environment. As well as being skilled in design, you need resilience and good team-working skills to succeed. Working as a magazine designer for the likes of BBC Worldwide, the Daily Telegraph and DK Books, I developed the strong layout skills that have served me well when creating websites for Edinburgh businesses.
Edinburgh website design
Moving to Edinburgh in 2004 proved to be the perfect time to diversify and extend my design skills.
First, I learnt coding to give me the tools I needed to create websites. I’ll not say this wasn’t tough – but the results were worth it! Although life is much easier now with WordPress, understanding how websites work and what’s going on behind the pages I design I learnt is vital.
Equipped with this new knowledge, I launched myself into developing branding and websites for small and medium-sized businesses. These days, I offer a comprehensive website service:
- Sourcing images and helping clients create effective copy
- Creating custom designs to fit clients’ businesses
- Making sure each webpage appeals to readers and search engines alike
Over the years, I’ve worked on such diverse projects, from floristry to finance, that, whatever your business, I’m confident I can deliver what you need.
What I love about my work – and about my clients!
Edinburgh and the Lothians is a thriving area for business and I’m proud to be part of it. Whether I’m designing for an ambitious start-up or an established business looking for a re-design, I get hugely excited about bringing my clients’ ideas to life.
Knowing you’ve helped turn someone’s business vision into a reality is deeply rewarding. And it’s the best feeling in the world when a client tells you they love the website or logo you’ve designed for them!
I gravitate towards enthusiastic, energetic people, enjoying their company and developing friendly working relationships with them. I like to feel part of their team. Many clients have become good friends.
What my clients say about me:
“Very creative, highly adaptable and responsive to my requests, and incredibly professional.”
Andy Todd, Din Eidyn Growth
“Working with you is a pleasure. Your ideas and inspirations when helping us with web design have been great and you encourage us to continue to develop which is so important … Having your expertise to hand relieves us of a lot of stress as, after passing [a task] to Moo, we can get on with our day jobs confident that you will be able to help.”
Karen McBean, Haulage Business and Holiday Cottage Owner
“It’s really easy to communicate with you because you listen to what we say to you and, although that seems dumb, it is really important … you understood completely what I wanted and managed to produce a logo that is 100% me!”
Natalia Lozano Casal, Private Dental Practice
“I love Andrea’s thoroughness – the briefing form she sent me before starting work on my logo asked all the right questions and made me really think about what I needed. I love my logo – it’s awesome!”
Julia Lister, Webwriter, The Word Engine
Rachael Bicknell, Mediator | Negotiation Consultant, Squaring Circles
Outside of work
I love cycling and get out most mornings, even if it’s simply for a quick blast around The Meadows or Holyrood Park. It gets me going and sets me up for the day. I sometimes get out in the afternoon too.
I also do a dance workout class two or three times a week. The teacher includes different dance styles and changes the steps every week, so you really have to pay attention! It’s a Sudoku-like mental challenge as well as a physical one and leaves me feeling exhilarated.
I live in Edinburgh with my family, including Felix the cat, who likes to photo-bomb my Zoom meetings if I forget to shut the office door beforehand!

Moo Web Design
In 2014, I started working with my sister-in-law, Andrea at Moo Web Design in Edinburgh. I brought my expertise in marketing, account management, WordPress development, & SEO to the business which gave Moo Web Design an extra edge. One of my first tasks was to improve our own SEO ranking, moving Moo Web Design up from Page 16 to the top of page 1 of Google for web design Edinburgh which has resulted in a huge increase in new customer leads from organic Google searches and our Google Business Maps Profile.
I love using my experience to help our customers, whether it’s starting a new business or improving their existing image or website to remain competitive. I always work hard for our clients, trying to find the best solution, while keeping costs affordable.
My primary concerns is supporting our customers to ensure they are happy with our work.
