CHOOSING THE RIGHT PLATFORM SERIES

Part of our collection of practical guides designed to help business owners make informed decisions before investing in a new website.

Why We Build WordPress Websites with Divi

Why Divi gives us the design flexibility, consistency and ease of editing we want for the websites we build and support.

Why Divi?

We build our WordPress websites using Divi because it gives us the freedom to create websites around each business while still giving our clients a straightforward way to manage their own content.

We’ve been working with Divi for years.

That experience matters.

We know the platform well, we’ve developed our own way of working with it, and we’ve learned how to use its flexibility without making websites unnecessarily complicated.

For us, it’s not simply about using a popular page builder. It’s about having a tool that lets us do our best work.

We start with the business, not the builder

One of the things we like most about Divi is that it doesn’t dictate what your website has to look like. We don’t start with a Divi template and try to make your business fit into it.

We start by understanding your business, your customers and what your website needs to achieve. Then we design the website around that.

Divi gives us the flexibility to turn that design into a working WordPress website while maintaining control over the details.

The design comes first. Divi is the tool that helps us build it.

Design freedom without unnecessary complexity

A website should feel distinctive to your business.

Your colours, typography, imagery, content and layout should work together to create a consistent experience.

Divi gives us a visual way to build those elements and create layouts that are tailored to the individual website.

That means we’re not limited to choosing a template and changing a few colours. We can create something much more individual. At the same time, our experience means we don’t use every feature simply because it’s available.

Good web design isn’t about adding more. It’s about making the right choices.

The best tools are the ones you know well enough to stop thinking about the tool and concentrate on the work.

Consistency matters

One of the less obvious benefits of working with a system like Divi is the ability to create consistency throughout a website. We can establish:

  • consistent typography
  • spacing
  • colours
  • buttons
  • headings
  • page layouts
  • reusable sections
  • responsive behaviour

This means that as your website grows, new pages can feel like part of the same website rather than something bolted on later.

That’s particularly important for businesses that expect their website to develop over time.

What about editing your own website?

This is important to us.

Once your website is live, you shouldn’t necessarily have to contact us every time you want to change a sentence or replace a photograph.

Divi’s visual editing environment can make many everyday changes straightforward.

Depending on how your website is set up, you can update things such as:

  • text
  • images
  • buttons
  • blog posts
  • certain page sections
  • contact details
  • services and other content

We build with this in mind. We want you to have as much control as you’re comfortable with. And if you’d rather leave the updates to us, that’s fine too. That’s where our ongoing support comes in.

We don’t just hand you a website

One of the advantages of having worked with Divi for so long is that we’re familiar with the websites we build. We understand how they’ve been put together. So if you come back to us six months or three years later and say:

“I’d like to add a new service.”

or:

“We need a new section on this page.”

we already understand the system behind your website.

That makes ongoing development much easier. Your website isn’t a finished product that we’re handing over and walking away from.

It’s something we can continue to work on with you.

Divi gives us a strong balance

For us, Divi sits in a useful middle ground. We have the design freedom to create bespoke websites rather than relying on rigid templates.

But we’re also working within a proven WordPress environment rather than building every element from scratch.

That means we can focus our time on the things that make the biggest difference: your business, your content, your customers and the experience we want visitors to have.

What about responsive design?

Your website needs to work properly across different screen sizes. A page that looks great on a large desktop screen isn’t necessarily going to work well on a phone.

Divi gives us control over how layouts behave across desktop, tablet and mobile screens. But again, the tool isn’t the important part.

We check and refine the experience across different screen sizes as part of the design and build process. Because responsive design isn’t simply about making everything smaller.

It’s about making sure the website remains easy to use.

Divi and SEO

Using Divi doesn’t automatically make a website good at SEO. And it doesn’t automatically make one bad at SEO either. As with any website platform or builder, how the website is planned and built matters. We pay attention to things such as:

clear page structure

headings

content hierarchy

internal linking

image optimisation

accessibility

image optimisation

mobile experience

page performance

useful, relevant content

The technology supports the work. The strategy comes first.

We’ve developed our own way of working

This is probably the biggest difference between simply using Divi and being experienced with Divi. After years of working with it, we’ve developed our own approach to building websites with the platform.

We know which features are useful.

We know where to keep things simple.

We know how to create reusable elements.

We know how to structure pages so they’re easier to maintain.

And we know that just because Divi can do something doesn’t mean the website needs it. The experience is in knowing what to use — and what not to use.

Divi is the tool. The thinking comes first.

This is something we’ve talked about throughout our website guides. The platform doesn’t decide:

what your business should say

who your website is speaking to

what pages you need

how your navigation should work

what visitors need to understand

what should persuade someone to contact you

Those decisions come first. Then we use WordPress and Divi to bring the strategy and design together.

The technology supports the thinking. It doesn’t replace it.

Why this matters to you

You don’t need to become a Divi expert. You don’t even need to know what Divi is. What matters is that your website:

  • looks like your business
  • works for your customers
  • is easy to manage
  • can grow with you
  • and can be supported over time.

That’s what we’re aiming for when we use Divi.
